Eyes in the sky
Meat my Butcher (get it meat ;-)

Bringing in the cabbage

Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Refrain

Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves,
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves,

Sorry, but this has been going through my head ever since I drove through Yuma, AZ on my way home from Lake Havasu.

Miles and miles of cabbage were being harvested. Feeling very sacrilegious, but unable to control myself, I was singing bringing in the cabbage-es

Cabbage in field

Look at all that cole slaw.

Cabbage in the field

Are these beauties or what.

I love driving through Yuma and the Imperial Valley (They also have Dillards ;-) during harvest time.

The air is filled with the scent of what is being harvested. Oh my gosh, the Imperial Valley when onions are being harvested is a delight to the senses.

Cabbage pickers

Busy, busy pickers. He did stop long enough to wave at me though.

Conveyer

The tractor pulling the conveyor drives slowly through the field. Plastic bags are hanging along the length of the conveyor. The pickers bend over, cut a cabbage from the stem, trim off the big leaves, bag it and put it on the conveyor belt all in seconds. The cabbage-es, (I'm sure cabbage-es is a word) then drop into the produce truck that runs along side the conveyor.

Looks like lettuce

While the cabbage is being harvested the next crop is starting, I think it's lettuce. These workers are walking along with hoes thinning out the plants. I'm sure the two on the right are supervisors, they just stood there talking. lol.

Now I'm hungry for some cabbage rolls.

And that's that.
