As you know I'm in Lake Havasu AZ visiting with daughter and family. One of the places we went today was to the Spice Merchants, oh what a wonderful place to be. To the best of my recollection I've never been in a spice shop. I've been in places that sell spices and lots of them, I just don't remember being in a shop dedicated exclusively to spices. This one is on the river right off the London Bridge.
See the reflection of the London bridge in the window and the beautiful patio.
I wish you could smell the following pictures.
The walls are lined with jars of spices with some prepackaged. They carry a large selection of loose teas also.
Gift packs and a few cookbooks area also available. They have a good variety of premixed rubs and spice blends.
There are dips and spreads available for sampling.
This is only part of the salt and rice display. See that serving bowl toward the left on the table, the one sitting up on edge, that's made of Himalayan salt, how cool is that.
So here's my haul. I bought a salt cellar, measuring spoons and
Smoked Tomato Seasoning, to be used in soups and sauces. They mixed it into a dip that we sampled.
Flower Power - Sea Salt Blend, hand mixed from grey sea salt, lavender, chamomile and rose petals. Smoked Paprika, sweet and smoky, slowly dried over an oak-burning fire for several weeks.
Bloody Mary Mix, hand mixed from sugar, salt, garlic, onion, horseradish, Worchestershire, celery, chiles, vinegar, spices, vegetable extractive, citric acid, soy.
Some plain ol dried Tarragon.
Maharajah Curry, handmixed from cumin, coriander, fenugreek, turmeric, yellow and brown mustard, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, fennel, white pepper, cloves, cardamom, chili powder, saffron.
Raspberry Chipotle Blend, demera sugar, onion, garlic, raspberries, sea salt, mesquite smoke and spices.
Chipotle Powder, smoke dried.
When I went to their website, www.spicemerchants.biz I found out they have a store in Temecula, relatively close to me. Happy happy happy.
Oh my car is going to smell so good on the drive home.
