Hooley's La Mesa
March 22, 2009
We've been watching and waiting for the opening of Hooley's in La Mesa. We've enjoyed going to their Rancho San Diego location but La Mesa is much more convenient for us.
We've always had good meals from them.
C'mon, let's have a pint together...
Stan had a Guinnes and I had a Half and Half, oh how I love my Half and Half. Now that's a good pour.
I ordered the fish and chips but didn't want the extra calories and fat of the chips so I was able to substitute them with a salad.
Fillets of Atlantic cod in a light crispy crunchy batter. Delicious, I ate it all.
Stan had the Sheperds PIe. It is made with ground beef, carrots and onions simmered in a Smithwick demi-glaze, topped with golden brown champ and served with sautéed vegetables. Stan also asked for a slice of Soda bread. This was really great. I helped him eat the veggies they were still crisp and delicious.
One of the reasons, besides the good food, that we kept going back to Hooley's in RSD was the wait staff. Looks like they are doing as good in La Mesa. We were so happy to be served by
Gailin.
She's efficent, friendly, and makes you feel like a special customer. Even after I dropped my lens cap down the side and under the seat of the booth and we had to take it apart to retrieve it.
We are going to be sure and ask for her station when we go back, which will be soon, believe me.
